Highland Village tours and Pacific Coast Day trips

All tours include roundtrip private transportation, bilingual guide/driver and entrance fees. We offer the following tours-

#1-Fuentes Georginas Hotsprings (Direct)..............7$p/p*
Beautiful natural volcanic pools set nestled in cloud forest half an hour from Xela. Beautiful views, and refreshing hot pools make for a relaxing visit, not to be missed. Guatemala's most famous hotsprings.

#2- Glassblowing Coop, Fuentes Georginas Hotsprings, Almolonga and Zunil village tour.........................12$p/p*
Great half day trip visiting the glassblowing cooperative in Cantel, watch artisans make beautiful glassware out of recycled glass, then a tour of Zunil with a visit to the vegetable market, weaving coop, 16th Century Church and colorful Shrine to San Simon. From Zunil we drive through intensive vegetable fields and cloudforest before reaching the Fuentes Hotsprings, after a refreshing swim, we return to Xela after stopping in Almolonga to see their vegetable market and church.

#3- Glassblowing Coop, Zunil, Las Cumbres Eco-Sauna and Almolonga tour..........................12$p/p*
Same tour as #2 but instead of visiting the Fuentes Hotsprings we visit Las Cumbres Eco-Sauna, a natural volcanic sauna, very hot and relaxing.

#4-Chiquilaja, San Andres Xecul, and Salcaja Colonial church and village tours......... .....10$p/p*
Half day tour starting at the village of Chiquilaja where we see their traditional church, from there we take a back road to San Andres Xecul to see their famous yellow church, and colorful shrine to San Simon, from there we travel to Salcaja to visit the oldest church in Central America built in 1524, see a weaving demonstration and taste two traditional homemade liquors famous in Salcaja.

#5-San Francisco Market (Friday morning only)................................................................10$p/p*
Friday morning visit to the biggest market in Central America, where thousands of local indigenous people come from surrounding villages to buy and sell food, clothes, supplies, and animals, and is visited by relatively few tourists.

#6- Totonicapan Market (Saturday morning only)...............................................................10$p/p*
Saturday morning visit to the large market every Saturday in Totonicapan, like San Francisco, a very traditional indigenous market.

#7- Chichicastenango Market (Thursday and Sunday morning only)..................................15$p/p*
Guatemala's most famous artisan market, great for shopping for textiles and other handicrafts.

#8- Momostenango........................................12$p/p*
Visit the traditional indigenous town of Momostenango, where many people still follow the Mayan Calendar. We visit a family that weaves woolen blankets and rugs and uses all natural dyes, then a stop at los Riscos, a unique geological formation. (Sunday market day)

#9- Pacific Beaches .......................................15$p/p*
Day trip to the black sand Pacific Beaches (Either Tulate, Tilapa, or Champerico) Overnight trips possible as well.

#10- Takalik Abaj MayanRuins..................25$p/p*
Visit one of the oldest archeological sites in Guatemala with Mayan and Olmec ruins, near the Pacific Coast. Takalik Abaj is an active site with ongoing archeological excavations. Then visit a tour a coffee, rubber and macademia plantation and processing facilities.

#11- Santa Anita Organic Coffee and Banana Collective....................................................20$p/p*
Half day tour to the Santa Anita Collective run by ex- guerillas from Guatemala's civil war. Tour the organic, shade grown coffee and banana plantations, the coffee processing facilities. Tour includes lunch and conference with community members about the history of the collective and their struggle.

#12- Nueva Allianza Organic Coffee and Macadamia Collective Overnight tour....25$p/p*
Overnight visit to the worker owned organic coffee and macadamia collective. Tour the coffee and macadamia nut plantations and 19th Century processing facilities, learn about organic and shade grown coffee production and the workers struggle for their land. Spend the night in the restored former owners house in a beautiful peaceful setting. The next day hike to rainforest waterfalls and swimming hole. (all meals included)
